About

Rodeena Stephens

I’m a Communications Executive with an M.A. in Communication Arts. As Director of Communications for The Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York, I develop and implement external and internal communication strategy, and create digital strategies, as well as, marketing and public relations campaigns. In January 2013, I was offered an adjunct faculty position at Westchester Community College, the largest college in Westchester County. After two years as adjunct, I was offered and accepted a full-time tenured-track Instructor role. I am blessed to share my love and knowledge of communications with hundreds of students each semester.

I am Social Media Director for New York Women In Communications, Inc. the premier organization for women in communications. In addition to leading the organizations social media strategy, I am a frequent contributor to their ALOUD Blog, as well as creator, and moderator of NYWICI’s bi-weekly twitter chat series.

Throughout my career, I’ve provided strategic and hands-on leadership to build brand awareness through digital communications, social media, and television programming. I have a unique broad-based career spanning 15 years in communications, journalism, program production, and non-profit program management. My experience as a communications professional is diverse and has provided me with opportunities to write, produce radio and television programs, launch home video series and receive numerous awards that include the Liz Hoover Award from New York Women in Communications, Journalism Scholarship Award from Press Club of Long Island, Emmy Certificates for my work on Sesame Street and the Dynamic Women Who Leave No One Behind Award from the National Council of Negro Women. I currently serve as board member for Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning.

I’ve directed LIVE concerts for some of the top gospel artists in the industry including the late Rev. Timothy Wright, Israel, FredFeatured image Hammond, Richard Smallwood, Donald Lawrence, Kirk Franklin, Kurt Carr, Marvin Sapp, Judith Christie McAllister and others.

In 2010, I launched my consultant business as a Social Media Strategist. In this role I consult with small business owners, corporate executives and entrepreneurs on how to integrate social media into their marketing strategies. I facilitate workshops that cover social media best practices and share useful tips and advice on how to effectively use social networks to implement social media strategies and strengthen business relationships.

I love all things social media and I’m proud to consider myself a “geekess.” I am founder of Art of Perception, a program designed to mentor young people interested in pursuing a career in media. It’s a work in progress and still in its infant stages. We have a great group of young people eager to learn all they can about the world of media and I’m looking forward to sharing my knowledge with as many youth as possible.

Other passions include writing, music, fashion, karaoke and bringing awareness to Alzheimer’s Disease. I love connecting with new people and tweeting about social media, entrepreneurship, women in business and Alzheimer’s awareness.

Looking forward to staying connected with you! Have a Fabulous Day!

  1. It’s always such a blessing to discover people so connected to their purpose in life. I think you are one of those discoveries. Congratulations on your many accomplishments. A close friend of mine lost his mother to Alzheimer’s Disease. Reading your post on it and things one need to consider for assisting those going through it was very enlightening.
I hope you’ll continue lighting the way on your path through this life. Hope you have a great day!
